Who Are The Cadets?
The Blue Ridge Rescue Squad Cadet Corps is a group of young persons under the age of 18 but no younger than the age of 16. They are a separate squad inside of the main Blue Ridge Rescue Squad. The Cadet Corps works to prepare it's members for full membership. The purpose of the Cadet Corps is to train young people in the use of many mechanical devices used in the ambulance service, to teach the principles of leadership and teamwork, and prepare them to operate as adult EMT's when they reach the age of 18. Cadets may attend an EMT class and obtain their provisional EMT certification. This allows them to operate the same as any other EMT, however they must always be under the supervision of a senior member. Upon turning 18 years old, the cadet becomes a fully certified NJ EMT.
If you or someone you know may be interested in joining the Cadet Corps, contact us via our contact page. Scholarships are available to Cadet Corps members who plan to attend college.
